CTA: get your visitor to take action

CTA Get your visitor to take action

In this blog I want to talk about the purpose of your website. And more specifically the purpose of your individual pages. Because when you want something to happen, you have to ask for it!

A concrete and clear invitation to do something is what we call a 'Call to Action', or 'CTA' for short

Without a good CTA, often... nothing happens. And if too many different things are offered on one page, that works against you too. So you want one concrete CTA per page. That makes it easier for your visitor to take action.

7 important characteristics of a good Call To Action

1. Clarity:

be as direct and clear as possible about what happens. Clicking a button is a mini commitment, so make sure the visitor knows what they are starting.

2. Relevance:

fits seamlessly with the purpose of the website and the needs of the visitor.

3. Appeal:

make your invitation visually attractive and prominent on the page.

4. Accessibility:

make sure your CTA is easy to find and easy to click, so the visitor has no trouble taking action.

5. Positive tone:

motivate the visitor to act with appealing wording, ideally something they will answer with a wholehearted YES!

6. Low threshold and concrete:

give a low-threshold invitation to take action, and be very concrete about it.

7. Valuable:

finally, offer something the visitor can clearly benefit from!
