What happens to my current website?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The most important thing to know: your website will keep working just fine. And you have all the time you need to decide when to switch.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The official announcement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 14 January 2026, Elegant Themes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elegantthemes.com\/blog\/general-news\/divi-5-official-release-date\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced the official release of Divi 5<\/a> for February 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Divi 5 has been available as a Public Beta for a while now (since 17 October 2025). Since then, updates with bug fixes and new features have been released every two weeks. The Beta version is stable enough for new websites, and many web designers are already working with it successfully. I've already built several new websites in Divi 5 myself and I'm already a big fan!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 26 February, the Beta label disappears and Divi 5 becomes the standard for all new installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does that mean for you?<\/strong><br>If you're already using Divi 5: nothing changes. If you're still on Divi 4: you can decide when to switch at your own pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does this mean for my website?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elegant Themes has announced that Divi 4 will remain fully supported for at least a year after<strong> <\/strong>the official release. This means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You'll receive critical security updates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You'll get compatibility updates for WordPress and plugins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can stay on the Divi 4 update path until at least the end of February 2027<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This approach gives you and plugin developers time to prepare, test, and switch when it suits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Should I update to Divi 5?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not right away. And maybe not at all, unless you need specific new features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wait a bit longer if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your website works well without any problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You use custom code or third-party plugins that aren't Divi 5-ready yet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You don't have time for troubleshooting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want to wait until the migration from Divi 4 to Divi 5 runs really smoothly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You might consider it if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You're starting a new website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You really need specific features (CSS Grid, Design Variables, Loop Builder)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You're comfortable working with staging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You enjoy working with the latest tools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My advice?<\/strong><br>For existing websites: wait until you're certain your plugins are compatible and the migration runs smoothly. After the one year grace period you'll see the update notification, but you don't have to install it right away. Your website will stay safe and functional as long as you remain on Divi 4. But don't hold me to this, it could well change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When is it time to switch?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You'll know the moment has come when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You're starting a new website<\/strong> \u2013 Then you might as well start directly with Divi 5<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your third-party plugins support Divi 5<\/strong> \u2013 Check with your plugin developers if they've already released a Divi 5 version<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>You need specific new features<\/strong> \u2013 CSS Grid or flexbox for complex layouts, Design Variables for consistent branding, or the Loop Builder for dynamic content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>You want the speed improvement<\/strong> \u2013 Divi 5 is significantly faster than Divi 4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Not sure if you should switch yet?<\/strong><br>Then the answer is probably: not yet. Wait until all your tools are compatible and you have time to test properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No race<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Divi 5 will be a great improvement. The new features are impressive and the speed gain is real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But there's no rush. Your website works well right now too.<\/strong> Take a breath.
