About me<\/strong><\/h1>\n

From dreams to doing - my business journey<\/h2>\n

Five years ago, I finally took the step toward what I had wanted for so long: becoming a freelance web designer. What started as a dream in 1993 (when I saw my first website) became reality in 2020. This is still the work I love doing most. And the road to get here? That has given me knowledge and experience that I use every single day. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

The real lessons<\/h3>\n

After working for years in digital image editing and graphic production, I transitioned to creating websites a few years ago. Web design then became my complete focus. <\/p>\n

In the beginning, I thought I mainly wanted to teach people how to do things themselves. But I soon discovered something about myself: I only truly become happy when I take care of people's worries. When I can actually help people instead of giving them even more to put on their plate. <\/p>\n

My clients want to put their energy into what they're good at \u2013 their own craft. And I want to put my energy into what I'm good at: ensuring their website works well and tells their story. Win-win. <\/p>\n

That clarity feels like a gift. After years of searching, I now know exactly what gives me energy. <\/p>\n

Learning from practice (and from life)<\/h3>\n

The past few years haven't only been professionally intensive. Personally too. We bought a house here in Sweden \u2013 in hindsight at the worst moment and financially not the smartest move. But it taught me something important: you can keep fighting with what's already been played, or roll up your sleeves and make the best of what's there. <\/p>\n

And actually, that applies to so much more in life. I look at perfection differently than before. It's not about having the perfect house or the perfect website, but about enjoying what really matters. Since 2024 I've been vegan, I exercise a lot and feel better in my body than ever. Not because everything is perfect, but because I've learnt to focus on what's truly important. <\/p>\n

Why I love this work so much<\/h3>\n

Something magical happens when I work with entrepreneurs who are truly passionate about their craft. Like a startup entrepreneur whose business is developing rapidly and who constantly comes with new challenges. We grow together \u2013 his business develops, his website grows along, and I learn something new with every challenge. <\/p>\n

Or an entrepreneur who creates learning methods for disadvantaged children. She trusts me, values my work, and does something that makes the world a little better. If I can contribute to that by creating a website that tells her story well, then that makes me happy too. <\/p>\n

Is that for myself or for my client? No idea. Doesn't matter either. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The long road to get here<\/h3>\n

After being self-employed for almost my entire adult life (not always the easiest path), I'm proud of where I stand now. It took time \u2013 and lots of study, from web design academies to marketing courses \u2013 but I can now truly choose who I want to work with. <\/p>\n

No politics, no hassle. Just creating beautiful websites for people who contribute something good to the world. <\/p>\n

More than just a website<\/h3>\n

What I've discovered is that building a website is much more than technique and design. Just like renovating a house \u2013 I can renovate a room, but for electricity and plumbing you really need a professional. That's how I work too: I take those worries away so you can focus on your craft. <\/p>\n

And because I keep learning so much myself (this semester SEO is on the agenda), I can look not only at how your website looks, but also at the user experience and the results it delivers. So your investment is future-proof. <\/p>\n

Looking ahead<\/h3>\n

I enjoy building long-term relationships with clients who grow and develop alongside me. And I keep working on creating quality in both work and life. <\/p>\n

Because that's what it's ultimately about: building something beautiful together that truly makes a difference, whilst you can also live your best life.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

I was born in Australia, grew up in the south of the Netherlands, then lived 20 years in Amsterdam, 4 years in the country and now I live and work in Sweden since late 2017.<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Of all the things I miss about the Netherlands, being able to cycle everywhere is number 1. The organic supermarket is number 2. <\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

My favorite color is green. It always makes me feel happy and peaceful. <\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

I love road trips, which makes even a car ride to the next village a celebration.<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n
