In this blog, I want to chat about your website’s purpose, and more specifically, the goal of your different pages. If you want something to happen, you gotta ask for it!
We call this type of prompt a ‘Call to Action’ or ‘CTA’ for short.
Without a good CTA, nothing usually happens. And if a page offers too many different things, that doesn’t work well either. So, you want one clear CTA per page. This way, it’s easier for your visitor to take action.
Here are the 7 key features of a good Call To Action:
1. Clarity:
be as direct and clear as possible about what happens. Clicking a button is a mini-commitment, so make sure the visitor knows what they’re getting into.
2. Relevance:
seamlessly fit with the website’s purpose and the visitor’s needs.
3. Appeal:
make your invite visually attractive and prominent on the page.
4. Accessibility:
ensure your CTA is easy to find and click, so the visitor has no trouble taking action.
5. Positive tone:
motivate the visitor to act with an enticing text, preferably something that makes them say YES! with excitement.
6. Low-threshold and concrete:
provide an easy invite to act and be very concrete about it. Nothing vague.
7. Add value:
finally, offer something the visitor can clearly benefit from!
